Flat-link training collars
These are the famous
“singing collars” that Tom and Kay Lams recommend in their training
seminars. They are slip collars (metal chain collars), but they do not lock
up on the dog. Instead if the dog jerks on it, they release their pressure
as soon as the dog stops pulling. Usually, a flick of your wrist makes the
collar jingle (or sing) alerting your dog to pay attention to what you are
about to do (stop, turn, go faster, go slower, whatever).
The club has these
collars available in 16-inch (ideal for puppies), 18-inch, and 20-inch (for
big Airedales) lengths. You can order them by mail or pick one up at Second
